Re-use it up and Pare it down
April 15th, 2011
Cavendish Conference Venues have a long history with recycling and using products that have been re-incarnated into something else just as useful. We can’t boast that any of them have as many lives as a cat is purported to have, but we’re working on it. Take our water for example, sustainable filtered Thames Water none of that foreign muck with fancy names and our coasters – retired tyres their rest in peace is under your glass that contains the aforementioned Thames Water. Our pencils were made from recycled CD cases, we have since changed them to being sustainably sourced. You wonder though is anyone really getting the message. Have our clients picked up on our efforts and what we are trying to do. Well, wonder no more. A returning delegate today asked for a pencil sharpener and on returning with it he produced a small stub of one of our pencils which he had kept and has used since the last conference. It was of those marvelous moments when someone takes you totally by surprise, you rub your hands with glee and grin from ear to ear. While it is not a global change nor a countrywide shift, it is a start and out of tiny acorns well you know the old adage…it is a start though.
